The portrait competition is open to enthusiast & professional photographers alike and is broken up into two categories, Open and Amateur.

Both these categories have subcategories, which Lacie is sponsoring and providing the highest scoring image in each of the six categories at a prize valued at $1500

The Amateur category can only be entered by people who earn under $2000 per year in income from photography.

Income and prizes from winning photography competitions (cash and product) is counted as income.

The Amateur category will have three sub-categories:

• Animal Portraits
• Travel / Street Portraits

The Online Portrait Competition is part of the Portrait Conference and is a national competition that only Australian citizens or residents can enter. It awards and promotes photography excellence in all forms of analog and digital photography with a focus on portraiture. To see if you qualify please read our terms and conditions.

The competition starts online with a total prize pool of cash and prizes totalling $40,000 and the finalists will be automatically entered for free into an additional print competition that has an extra prize pool of $20,000. This print competition will be judged and drawn on the final night of The Portrait Conference on the 13th of November 2019 in Melbourne.

TOP 30 SCORING ENTRANTS OF THE ONLINE PORTRAIT COMPETITION WILL GAIN FREE ENTRY INTO THE PRINT COMPETITION 

Only entrants into The Portrait Conference online component will be eligible for entry into the print competition. 

Following judging, the top 30 scoring entrants in the online competition will be notified of their success. 

 
These 30 individuals will be asked to provide a high-resolution file to Kayell Australia so their image can be printed and made ready for judging at

All attendees of The Portrait Conference are invited to attend the pre-awards drinks and presentation of the winners of the print competition and a re-cap of the winners of the online competition.
