Finding the Light

Light is everything. Lauren McGill takes you on a journey on how to find and utilise light to create connection and emotion in your family photography. Going over camera settings, how to find the right light and an editing demonstration on how to enhance light to deliver truly beautiful images.

Bio

Lauren McGill is a sought after photographer based in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire, specializing in newborn, maternity and family photography.
Lauren’s initial love of photography began in 2009 where she started out assisting in wedding photography. After the birth of her first child Abigail, Lauren’s love affair with the camera soon turned into an obsession.

“I couldn’t get enough, learn enough, or take enough. I would hound my friends to let me take photos of their children – and my daughter really did grow up thinking that a camera-in-hand is just a normal part of everyday life!”
Lauren McGill

Soon enough, Lauren’s skills behind the lens developed quite a reputation and following on both social media and from word of mouth – and from here, McGill Photography was born.
Being a mother herself, Lauren knows first-hand how quickly our little cherubs grow; and just how important it is to have really beautiful family photography to capture these milestones.
With the blessing of having both an amazing natural light-filled studio indoors, as well as an abundant and totally unique “outdoor studio”,  being right on her doorstep (courtesy of Mother Nature herself) – Lauren’s talented eye and unlimited imagination can capture unrivaled beauty in any setting.
She has been noted on occasion to joke that the sun truly is her best friend. Lauren’s creativity with light has often turned even the most unsuspecting location into her own hidden gem and the end result is nothing short of outstanding. Just browse some of her images below, and you will find out for yourself.
