Presenters of the 2022 Filmmaking Event

Pieter de Vries ACS 

Piet de Vries is one of the leading documentary cinematographers. From the heights of the Space Shuttle to the depths of the North Atlantic Ocean, from ancient land turtles on the Galapagos Islands to abandoned Soviet submarine bases in the Russian Far East, this internationally recognised cinematographer has been there with a camera. His films have won numerous awards, including several Emmys and BAFTA’s. He has won the Australian Cinematographer Society’s top Award, Cinematographer of the Year. Based in Sydney, he spends much of his time traveling, working on productions for the BBC, Discovery, ABC and National Geographic.

During a career that spans four decades, Pieter has filmed in more than one hundred and eighty-five countries and territories, including the Arctic, Antarctic, the Galapagos Islands and for NASA in space. He is considered a leading expert in deep-ocean cinematography, and he’s filmed at extreme depths for director James Cameron, exploring the interior of the wreck of Titanic for the 3D IMAX feature documentary, “Ghosts of the Abyss”. He also contributes to the many documentaries presented by Sir David Attenborough. He is an imaging ambassador for Apple and Sony.

Pieter also travels the world with luxury cruise lines Silversea, Oceania and Regent Seven Seas as a guest speaker and with Aurora Antarctic Expeditions as a cinematography mentor.


Andy Taylor ACS

Andy Taylor is a freelance Director of Photography and CASA licensed drone pilot based in Sydney Australia. 


He is considered one of Australia’s most experienced and respected cinematographers, with 30 years of experience, filming in over 100 countries. Andy shoots a variety of productions including: drama, documentary, promos, branded content, fashion, music and travel.


In 2002 Andy was granted accreditation by the Australian Cinematographers Society - the highest honour that is bestowed on an ACS member. His work has been recognised with 30 x ACS Awards and 6 x prestigious Walkley Awards for Cinematography.

In 2021 Andy’s work was recognised with the following awards for cinematography:

  • ACS Awards NSW - The Ross Wood Jnr ACS - Judges Award for Best Entry for "Exposed - The Ghost Train Fire"

  • ACS Awards NSW - Gold  Award - documentaries category for "Exposed - The Ghost Train Fire" for ABC-TV.

  • ACS Awards NSW - Gold Award - commercials - local/regional for “Destination NSW - Nel Restaraunt"

  • ACS Awards NSW - Silver Award - TV station breaks and promos for "Today - Men In Black" for Nine.

  • Walkley Award - Winner - Best Cinematography for “Exposed - The Ghost Train Fire”.

  • ​Kennedy Award for Excellence in Journalism - Winner - Best Camerawork for “Exposed - The Ghost Train Fire”.

Gerardo Ceres

Gerardo Ceres is the General Manager, Creative Producer, Cinematographer and Photographer at Relativity Films -  a boutique agency that works in broadcast, print and online content creation.

He has worked in creative industries for over thirty years, beginning as a photographer in the late eighties before moving into video in the late nineties and founding Relativity Films in 1999.

He has produced content for regional, national and international productions. Select clients include Destination Wollongong, Illawarra Hawks, University of Wollongong,  i98FM (WIN Corporation), The GPT Group, Peoplecare, Trade & Investment NSW and many more.
